An Orchard of Business Oportunities

The Fruit Industry is one of the most remarkable segments of Brazilian economy. In continuous evolution, it aims at serving the growing domestic market, getting as well a better access to the global fruit market-place.

The sector is seriously attempting to fulfil the quality requirements and the phytosanitary regulations of purchasing markets, also making every endeavour to increase exports, adding to exportative basis with special emphasis on small and medium-sized producers.

IBRAF - Brazilian Fruit Institute - a non-profitable private organization, representative entity of this sector, was founded with the objective of supporting technical development, besides proceeding to market studies, promoting fruit and its by-products business opportunities.

Jointly with APEX - Brazilian Agency for Exports Promotion - IBRAF and Andre Tosello Research & Technology Tropical Foundation are making every endeavour to develop and consolidate the "Brazilian Fruit" Program.

This program is aimed at promoting the Brazilian Fruit abroad, specially in the USA and European countries and extend our participation in this segment. In order to attain this target, an origin mark was created - the "Brazilian Fruit" mark which identifies quality, excellence in savour, consistency, seriousness and confidence.

The Brazilian Fruit Program was successfully implemented in 1998. It has been continuously improved and a new phase shall be operative for the period of 2003/2004.

Our main challenge is to transform Brazil's image from an exotic fruit producer into a renowned world-wide supplier of tropical, subtropical and temperate climate fruits.

This program targets are the market agents and the final consumer. Promotion will be made with tastings; promotional material; improvement in Brazilian fruit institutional image; reinforcement of a strong commitment between Brazilian exporters and the importers. The CD - ROM - The Brazilian Fruit Industry 2003

The CD-ROM on the Brazilian Industry of the Fruits is divided in three main areas: in a first area indicative information of the Brazilian horticulture are presented; in second the directory of the producers / exporters, organized for fruits; and finally a description of the main Brazilian fruits of export.
