The Brazilian papaya is a very special fruit. Its unique flavour is both delicate and refreshing. Try to start the day enjoying a papaya in its natural state, or try an exotic papaya cream for dessert. The papaya is an outstanding digestive.

How to recognize a ripe papaya:

  • The skin should be largely orange colored.
  • Its consistency should be soft.
  • It should be stored at room temperature (up to 25º C).
  • A ripe papaya exudes a delicate aroma, typical of this fruit.
  • A green papaya should not be stored at a temperature lower than 8º C, because this interrupts its ripening process.
  • How to eat a papaya in its natural state :
  • Cut the fruit lengthwise.
  • Remove the seeds.
  • Eat it in spoonfuls.
  • Do not eat the seeds or the skin.
  • Try it with the juice of half a lime squeezed over the pulp.
  • Papayas contain: Calcium, phosphorus and vitamin A
